all together, kelly wearstler interiors are a lot to take in. there’s an abundance of l.a. glitz and glam. sensory overload. it can be just a little too…too.
but wait…dissect. take the components on their own and you find fabulous separates. the soufflé chair. one or a pair. ruched lambskin leather. luxe. poof perfection!

an industrial designer and unsung hero who worked for george nelson associates. by day mr. harper had a hand in designing some of the most iconic mid-century items for nelson and herman miller. all of these — clocks, marshmallow sofa — were credited to nelson and the firm.
but by night….harper made paper sculptures. ahhhhh….

the ro chair from spanish designer jaime hayon is an alternative to the ubiquitous womb, egg, or eames lounge chair. introduced in 2013 and available from ‘the republic’ of fritz hansen, for me, it was love at first sight. it’s a wingback with a contemporary sensibility and perfect for reading. the ‘blinders’ allow just the right amount of cozy privacy. sexy, organic, and available in myriad fabric and leather choices for her or him.
as much as my architectural heroes of the 80s and 90s were richard meier and shelton-mindel associates, i have switched my allegiance to deborah berke and annabelle selldorf. the twenty-first century architectural world is finally ready to receive these two uber talented ladies. they play with the big boys and look fabulous while doing so.
