every time i happen upon one of india mahdavi’s ‘bishop stools’, my reaction is that, in every ‘en situ’, it feels totally appropriate. no easy task. the bishop is that extra added ‘little layer of something’ every room needs. and we all know it’s the combination of layers + tension that keep a space interesting.

i’ve been thinking about an antidote for all of the ills of the past year and grappling with a solution. one thing’s for sure — i’ve no control over all that’s out there — i’ve only control over me and my reaction to all that’s out there. with this in mind i’ve decided for 2017 and moving forward…to be the best version of me possible:

re-blogging….the museum dedication ceremony took place yesterday…
i had the pleasure of meeting david adjaye a couple years ago. i am in awe of his talent. this amazing tanzanian architect has designed what will be the last of the smithsonian museums on the mall in washington dc. fittingly, it is the national museum of african american history and culture due to be completed and dedicated before president obama leaves office.
this guy is due to be installed on new york city’s high line in the next couple of weeks. in 2014, the sculpture – painted bronze and very lifelike – caused quite a stir on the campus of wellesley college. the coeds were not amused.
