a few years ago at the philadelphia museum, i viewed an amazing installation of the quilts of gee’s bend. i was reminded of them again last month at the national museum of african american history and culture.
although…at five figures each…i’ll plan to have one in my next lifetime.

whenever i’ve seen this piece in photos en-situ, i’ve wondered about each respective owner. brave. daring. unafraid. yeah. definitely unafraid. count me amongst them. i imagine mrs. vreeland would approve.
now…if i can just figure out how to place something atop without inadvertently creating a new genetically engineered mythical creature….

not sure if the weapon of choice was a montblanc meisterstuck ballpoint — super popular 20ish or so years ago. and still lethal.

re-blogging….the museum dedication ceremony took place yesterday…
i had the pleasure of meeting david adjaye a couple years ago. i am in awe of his talent. this amazing tanzanian architect has designed what will be the last of the smithsonian museums on the mall in washington dc. fittingly, it is the national museum of african american history and culture due to be completed and dedicated before president obama leaves office.
this oversized upholstered lounge chair is a 21st century throne of the finest order. fit for a queen.
and the dining chairs…very feminine.
