Chic Fashion

LAKIN OGUNBANWO – Photographer

red hook labs in brooklyn recently presented a show from 21st century nigerian photographer lakin ogunbanwo. in the portraits, presented in oversized scale, the subjects are indistinguishable. identically stripped bare, individuality is expressed through the power of fashion. in this case…the simplicity of a hat.

Speedy – Louis Vuitton

it bags come and it bags go. but really, if you’re looking for a classic that’ll stand the test of time — and if you’re not…you should be — it’s all about the speedy. pricey, but not too. neither too big nor too small. welcome to a ‘just right’ goldilocks moment. she doesn’t scream ‘i’m a designer handbag’, she just sighs, ‘i’m fashionable and smart’…and perfectly  utilitarian. guaranteed to be around long after the it bag of the year. put her on your wish list. hurry.

ms. yaeger marches to her own fashion drummer. she is unique. and what could possibly be more chic?

Stella Jean

haitian-italian fashion designer stella jean (pronounced john) is making me re-think my basic black monochromatic world. there is nary a print in my wardrobe, but the chic ms. jean gives me cause for reconsideration.

i first noticed her two years ago, but this spring i may finally take the plunge. a colorful cultural-inspired print skirt teamed with a–carolina herrara inspired–white shirt. basta!
